When Mark Allen, O.D. and James Moser, O.D. of Vision Source Texarkana, Texas decided it was time to build a new building for their practice, they wanted a large building that would accommodate healthy practice growth for many years to come. The overall size of the clinic is 6,000 square feet with 1,500 square feet for the dispensing area. The practice serves an extremely wide range of income and lifestyle groups from very modest blue-collars to white-collar executive types with six-figure incomes. They wanted a design that would attract more of the high-income group but they did not want to chase away their lower and middle-income patients with a dispensary that looked intimidating or too expensive. The doctors chose Barbara Wright to complete the dispensary design and her solution was to create a high fashion boutique within the main dispensary area by defining it with architectural features. Four columns support a dramatic up-lit barrel vault overhead. The columns and contrasting oval carpet inlay set off the area without any need for walls. Showcases act as a see-through divider between the high fashion area and the reception counter.

Barbara Wright suggested using Ennco Display to build the free-standing showcases, wall-hung shadowbox displays and dispensing tables. The design complexity of these displays is often outside of the local cabinetmaker's experience, she explains, and best results are achieved from a company who specializes in display fixtures.
